Akash Singh joins CSK for replacement of Mukesh Choudhary in IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings will face last year champion Gujarat Titans on 1st match of IPL 2023. In recent big development Akash Singh joins CSK for replacement of Mukesh Choudhary in IPL 2023. The four-time champion announced that Choudhary is recovering from a stress fracture and hence, is side-lined from the 16th edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL).

Akash Singh, who was a part of India’s Under-19 World Cup team in 2020, has previously played for Rajasthan Royals. The left-arm pacer has so far played nine T20s besides nine List A matches and five First-Class games and has 31 wickets against his name. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 20 Lakh.

Chennai Super Kings star Mukesh Choudhary has been ruled out of IPL 2023 with an injury. The left-arm pacer was initially set to miss the first half of the season, but further diagnosis has confirmed his unavailability for the tournament. The news comes as a telling blow to MS Dhoni and Co, who begin their campaign vs Gujarat Titans.

CSK will soon name a replacement. Mukesh Choudhary is currently at the NCA continuing his rehabilitation. The left-arm seamer is struggling with a back injury and will miss the entire tournament. The left-arm pacer from Maharashtra was bought by CSK for INR 20 lakh during the IPL 2022 mega auctions last year. Choudhary was one of the team’s lead bowlers during a disappointing campaign where it finished ninth on the points table.

The 26-year-old picked up 16 wickets from 13 matches, including a best of 4/46 at an economy of 9.32. Choudhary, however, has not played a competive game since the Vijay Hazare Trophy final for Maharashtra against Saurashtra on December 2, 2022. CSK had earlier lost all-rounder Kyle Jamieson to injury. South Africa all-rounder Sisanda Magala was roped in to replace him.
