Pramod Muthalik calls for ‘Halal-free Diwali’, urges Hindus to trade only within community

Kolar —Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik on Saturday called for celebrating a “Halal-free Diwali”, urging Hindus to avoid purchasing Islamic halal-certified products for festive use or worship. He insisted that Hindus should “trade only with fellow Hindus” to preserve the community’s sanctity and security.
Speaking to reporters in Kolar, Muthalik strongly criticized the Indian government’s engagement with Afghanistan’s Taliban regime, calling the move “inappropriate” and “against national interest.” He said, “Afghanistan, Taliban, and Pakistan are nations that breed terrorism and destroy global peace. Granting recognition or engaging in talks with them is unacceptable.”
He alleged that halal products are impure and unfit for Hindu rituals or celebrations. “Do not buy or use halal-certified products for Diwali worship, decoration, or any purpose. They insult our faith. Hindus should unite and celebrate a halal-free Diwali,” he said.
Recalling the recent killing of 26 Hindu pilgrims in Pahalgam, Muthalik said, “They were murdered only because they were Hindus. Hence, Hindus must also be conscious of whom they support and trade with.”
Muthalik further accused the Congress of fostering “an anti-Hindu atmosphere” and said slogans like ‘I Love Muhammad’ were being used deliberately to provoke Hindus.
He lamented that modern politics thrives on caste, money, and corruption, sidelining ideology and nationalism. “It has become difficult for genuine patriots and Hindutva workers to enter politics. Therefore, we aim to bring change through social movements and organization,” he asserted.
