If the NDA forms the government, Modi will become the second leader after former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to retain power for a third term.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi chaired a Union Cabinet meeting to review the Lok Sabha election results and discussed matters related to the formation of the next government, sources said. The meeting started at 11.30 am at the Prime Minister’s residence. This is the last meeting of Modi 2.0 Cabinet and Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, senior NDA leaders started arriving in Delhi for the alliance meeting to be held at 4 pm. NDA leaders are likely to discuss the details of government formation. JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Andhra Pradesh’s next Chief Minister, Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu will attend the meeting.

Sources said BJP’s allies have already started sending their demands to the BJP for a Modi 3.0 cabinet. JDU has demanded 3 cabinet seats, while Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction has asked for one cabinet and two MOS seats.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu finally announced decision:

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday clarified his party’s stand regarding the upcoming central government formation in India. At a press conference, he expressed his firm support for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is at its lowest level in the last 15 years. Chandrababu Naidu said, “You always need news. I am a veteran and I have seen many political changes in this country. We are in the NDA and I am going to the NDA meeting,” he said. As the 2024 Lok Sabha election results unfolded on Tuesday, early trends showed both the major blocs in a close contest.

By mid-afternoon, the numbers were more certain. By the end of counting, the NDA secured a total of 292 seats, while the Bharat Bloc finished with 232 seats. TDP’s position is crucial at this moment, BJP lacks a majority and needs alliances to form the incoming government at the Centre.

Earlier, TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu thanked the people for the overwhelming mandate given to the NDA in Andhra Pradesh. In a social media post on Tuesday night, Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders Amit Shah and JP Nadda for their commitment to Andhra Pradesh’s future.
