Karnataka opposition Leader Name: After the formation of the new government in Karnataka, the cabinet has been expanded according to its capacity, but still BJP is not announced opposition leader for Karnataka Assembly.

The BJP is yet to take a decision on the post of Leader of the Opposition. In this series, Karnataka former Chief Basavaraj Bommai met senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday (June 2). Information about what happened between the two is yet to come.

In the elections to the 224-member assembly, the Congress won 135 seats and the BJP 66. Leader of Opposition has to be made from BJP. Recently there was a discussion that whether former CM Basavaraj Bommai would be made the Leader of the Opposition?

On this, the sources said that the decision regarding the leader of the opposition has to be taken by the top leadership of the BJP. The BJP had also held a review meeting on May 21 regarding the defeat in Karnataka, but the issue of the leader of the opposition was not discussed.

A report quoted party sources as saying that Basavaraj Bommai would be projected as a prominent Lingayat leader and a leader from the Vokkaliga community could be considered as the state BJP president. For this, the names of Shobha Karandlaje, Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan or CT Ravi can be considered.

These names are also discussed for prominent faces. It was told by quoting sources that BJP is considering preparing the Vokkaliga face. Usually JDS gets a major chunk of Vokkaliga votes but this time it is said that around five per cent votes went to Congress which helped it to win big.

BJP is seeing the decline in the vote share of JDS as an opportunity for itself. It was also told by the sources that some people have suggested that Basangouda Patil Yatnal is an outspoken Hindutva ideologue, he should be projected as a Lingayat face.
