Weather Report: Heavy Rainfall in India, issued Orange, yellow alert

Weather Report: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for various parts of the country. The IMD on Tuesday issued an orange alert for heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra such as Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Nashik, Pune and Satara.

The India Meteorological Department department also issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Palghar, and Sindhudurg. According to the IMD scientist, the monsoon has advanced in the past 4-5 days. “Leaving some parts of northwest India, the monsoon has impacted almost the entire country.

Entire Gujarat and south-east Rajasthan have been covered by the monsoon. In the next two days, it is expected that south Punjab, Haryana, and the remaining parts of Rajasthan will be covered,” IMD scientist Soma Sen said. Light to moderate widespread rainfall is very likely over West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand during the next five days.

In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rainfall is predicted between 27 and 29 June, in East Rajasthan on 29 and 30 June, and over Uttarakhand on 29 and 30 June. In Central India, rainfall will grip Madhya Pradesh during the next 4-5 days and Chattisgarh and Vidarbha during the next two days.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is most likely over Konkan, Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra during the next five days. Gujarat region will witness torrential downpours on Wednesday. West Bengal and Sikkim will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall from 27 June to July, according to the IMD predictions.

The rain will lash Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh between 29 June and 1 July. Light to moderate scattered rainfall is likely over Kerala and Mahe on 30 June and 1 July. Coastal Karnataka will experience heavy rainfall till1 July.
