In this regard, the government has made emergency panic button mandatory. This rule will be applicable to all types of public service vehicles. It has been said that this order is mandatory for yellow board taxis, cabs, private buses, goods vehicles with national permit.

The state government has issued an order making installation of Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLT) and Emergency Panic Button mandatory for these vehicles. Mainly for the safety of women, children and passengers in the state, the government has seriously considered installing emergency panic buttons in private vehicles with public services.

Since this work has to be done quickly, only the vehicles covered by this scheme have been notified in the RTOs for FC renewal. At present, the adoption of this device in public service vehicles has been approved in a 60:40 partnership between the central and state governments.

An expenditure of 2035.90 lakhs has been approved for the implementation of this scheme and it has been informed that the vehicle owners should install panic buttons from eligible companies. This project will start from December 1 itself. Within one year (30/11/24 ) permit vehicles must have these devices fitted.

Otherwise action will be taken by the Transport Department. Also, the state transport department has mentioned in the order that if the device is not installed, the FC will not be renewed. 7,599 to install a vehicle location tracking device with a panic button. This price is exclusive of GST.

After installation of VLT and Panic Button, location tracking of vehicle starts on monitoring map. It will also provide restricted area, traffic violation and speeding alerts.

Also, in the event of any emergency including passenger health, sexual assault, robbery, if the panic button is pressed, an alert message will be sent to the command center. From this, the command center will inform the local police along with the location of the vehicle, so that future dangers can be prevented.
