According to the scheme, you can open an account with a zero balance Bank Jan Dhan account. Under this scheme, the government is providing many facilities like overdraft facility, insurance facility, check book, debit card etc.
For information, a special facility in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is that these account holders can take a loan of Rs 10,000 even with zero balance. This facility is known as overdraft. Under this scheme, you can apply for a loan of Rs 10,000.
Under this scheme, even if you don’t have a single rupee in your account, you can easily get a profit of Rs.10, 000. This is known as short term loan. Earlier this amount was Rs 5,000, but now the government has increased it to Rs 10,000.

Many accounts have been opened in public sector banks under the PM Jan-Dhan scheme. But if you want, you can open Jan Dhan account in any private bank. If you have any other savings account, you can convert it to Jan Dhan account. Any citizen residing in the country aged 10 years or above can open a Jan Dhan account.
