Petrol prices jump today, Check rates in your city

The petrol prices and diesel prices have jump in the capital city on Monday. Today, the petrol price has been recorded at Rs 102.10 per litre while the diesel rate is recorded at Rs 91.91 per litre. Earlier on Sunday, the petrol price was also recorded at Rs 101.81 per litre while the diesel rate was recorded at Rs 91.62 per litre.

The petrol diesel rates have not changed in the last 24 hours. The petrol and diesel rates in Cuttack have increased and is recorded at Rs 102.42 and Rs 92.21 respectively. The fuel prices in major cities of India like Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai have remained unchanged today and is recorded at Rs 101.51, Rs 104.67, and Rs 109.98 respectively.

The diesel price, on the other hand, is recorded at Rs 91.53 in Chennai, Rs 89.79 in Kolkata, and in Mumbai, the rates are at Rs 94.14. Meanwhile, the cost of petrol in the national capital, Delhi is recorded at Rs 95.41 per litre while the diesel is at Rs 86.67 per litre.

The petrol and diesel prices in India will be raised for the first time in more than four months after the end of assembly elections on March 7 (Monday). The fuel prices have not been raised since November 4 last year. The Government of India, on the eve of Diwali, had announced reduction of central excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively.

The move was also seen to have been taken in view of the crucial assembly elections in five states including in the most populous Uttar Pradesh. On February 24, oil prices surged following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Brent rose above $116 a barrel, while supply disruptions have hit global prices leading to worries over a major setback to the post-COVID economic recovery.
