Karnataka get bumper in Union Budget 2023: 5,300 crore for Upper Bhadra Project

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the 5th budget today. In April 2022, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai had said that steps had already been taken to declare the upper Bhadra project as a national project. 16,000 crore once the Upper Bhadra project is declared as a national project. He said that it will be available for this project.

The Upper Bhadra Project will provide irrigation of about 19 TMC feet of water to about 2.25 lakh hectares of Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davangere and Tumkur districts. The project envisages filling more than 350 tanks using 10.8 TMC feet of water along with increasing the capacity of Vani Vilasa reservoir.

Also, Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that interest-free loans will continue for 50 years to all states. Capital Expenditure Limit of States Raised to Rs 1.3 Lakh Crore.
