Heavy rainfall issued red alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe rainfall warning for the coastal region of India, predicting continuous heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Goa for the next six days. It has also been warned that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in some parts of Kerala from May 28 to May 30. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in the Konkan region, Karnataka and the Ghat areas of Maharashtra.

Thunderstorms and squalls are likely to occur in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and southern interior. As heavy rains and a red alert have been declared in the district on May 29 and 30, District Collector K. Impashekhar has ordered a holiday for schools for two days as a precautionary measure.
The holiday applies to vocational education institutions, special classes, tutoring centers, Anganwadis, Madrasas and similar institutions. However, pre-scheduled exams will continue as usual. Additionally, all quarry operations in the district have been suspended during the red alert period.

The district administration has banned entry to tourist spots, including beaches and places like Ranipur, until further notice. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Mahe, Kerala from May 28 to May 30. Heavy rainfall is also likely in North Karnataka during the same period. A warning level has been issued for districts along the Western Ghats.
