The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) going on strike on November 19 due to which banking services (Bank work) across the nation will get affected. Thus there is a possibility that the operations of the State Owned Banks (PSBs) will be hampered. Although the officer-level staff will not be involved in the strike, there is a possibility of disruption in many services including cash deposits, withdrawals, check clearance, ATMs.

Bank of Baroda, Punjab & Sindh Bank has already sent a message to the customers by issuing a notification. There is a possibility that many staff members of the bank may go on strike, which may hamper the normal functioning. Therefore, these banks have requested the customers to complete the banking transactions today without leaving them pending for the weekend.

Many banking activities are being outsourced. All India Bank Employees’ Union General Secretary CH Venkatachalam said that the privacy and money of customers are being put at risk. Banks like Bank of Maharashtra are denying the rights of trade unions.

He said that Canara Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and IDBI Bank are outsourcing many banking activities. Some banks are violating the ‘Industrial Disputes (Amendment) Act’. He also alleged that despite the intervention of the officials, the management board ignored their suggestions and forcibly transferred the employees in violation of the provisions of the Act.

Attacks on bank employees are on the rise these days. There is a strong reason behind these. We have to protest this. He called on us to try at the level of the bank employees’ association to prevent these targeted attacks as a whole. The strike called by the All India Bank Employees Union has not hit the private banks. Sources said that private banks will continue to function as usual.
