Amazon plans to lay off 10,000 employees

New Delhi: The New York Times reports that Amazon may lay off 10,000 employees starting this week. This is the largest layoff in Amazon’s history. The Amazon company is thinking of laying off around 10 thousand employees. By the end of December 2021, Amazon had a total of 16 lakh employees. How many people will be laid off this year, what grade of employees will be laid off, etc. is not yet available. However, the New York Times reported that Amazon may lay off 10,000 employees starting this week. This is the largest layoff in Amazon’s history.

These job cuts are said to focus on retail sales, corporate, technology, and human resources. However, no official information about this has come out from the company. The report comes just weeks after e-commerce giant Amazon warned of a slowdown in growth during the busy holiday season.

This is the period that generates the most sales. Amazon said this is because consumers are spending less money due to rising prices. Amazon has previously warned that the company’s business growth is likely to slow during this year-end Christmas sales period.

The Christmas season naturally has the highest turnover for the Amazon company. However, people and companies do not have enough money to spend on shopping. Besides this, the price of goods is also expensive. Elon Musk, who is making a huge change in the Twitter organization after buying Twitter recently, has cut down a lot of jobs in India as well.
