Air India passengers welcome by Ratan Tata with special message

Following Air India’s take over by Tata group, veteran industrialist Ratan Tata has extended a warm welcome to passengers onboard Air India flights, the airline said in a tweet on Wednesday. Air India passengers welcome by Ratan Tata with special message.

“The Tata group welcomes Air India’s new customers and is excited to work together to make Air India the airline of choice in terms of passenger comfort and service,” Ratan Tata said. Days after Tata Group took over Air India, Ratan Tata Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and Chairman Tata Trusts, extended a warm welcome to passengers travelling on the airline.

Taking to Twitter, the Air India official handle posted a short 18-second message voiced by Ratan Tata himself. He is heard welcoming ‘Air India’s new customers’. Further, he says, “We are excited to work together to make Air India the airline of choice in terms of passenger comfort and service.

” Air India was handed over to the Tata Group on Thursday, nearly 69 years after it was taken from the conglomerate. Earlier, Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told India Today TV that Air India’s total debt is roughly about 60-70,000 crore including current liabilities. Of that, 15300 crores of that debt overhang is lowered, as covered by the Tata bid, Scindia said.

“So, roughly we are looking at Rs 46,000 crore to Rs 47000 crore debt burden, which has been transferred to the special purpose vehicle (SPV). With the non-core assets, and the Rs 2700 crore we’ve received as equity from the transaction bid, that will get lowered,” Scindia said.
