4% increase in gratuity will get approval in Narendra Modi’s cabinet. After this, this money will be added to the employee’s account along with arrears in the salary of March. Due to this, the gratuity allowance of central government employees will increase to 42%. It has been increased from 38% to 42%.

As per CPI-IW data, 4.23% increase in dearness allowance till December 2022. However, the round figure has been given to central employees and it has been increased by 4%. In the last six months i.e. between July and December, the consumer price index inflation figure increased by 4.4 percent. Thus, there has been an increase of 4%.

Due to this, it is said that the gratuity allowance will be given at the rate of 42%. Till January, the employees were getting 38% gratuity. After this DA will increase in the month of July. Allowances drawn by central employees are given under the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. As per the recommendations the dearness allowance i.e. DA has been increased.

The Labour Bureau, which is part of the Ministry of Labour, calculates the rate of increase in inflation on the basis of the Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) and severance allowance is given accordingly.
