Udupi: Congress candidate Prasad Raj Kanchan submit nomination

Udupi: Against the backdrop of state elections, three more days are left for nomination. Thus the party’s election candidates are involved in nomination papers. Now Congress candidate of Udupi Constituency Prasad Raj Kanchan (Udupi Congress candidate) along with District Congress leaders has submitted his nomination papers on a walk from the District Congress Office to the Taluk Office.

He held a meeting in front of the Congress office and then came on a walk from there and submitted his nomination papers at 11.15 am Monday. His mother Sarla Kanchan, District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavuru, Block Congress President Ramesh Kanchan, Kapu candidate Vinaya Kumar Sorake were present. Earlier, Prasad Raj Kanchan, who spoke in a meeting held in front of the Congress office, said that we are ready to face the elections.

Prasadraj Kanchan is the son of Udupi District Mahila Congress leader Sarla Kanchan and owns Kanchana Hyundai Showroom in Udupi, Mangalore, Karwar. In the 1999 assembly elections, Sarala Kanchan, who had contested as a Congress candidate from the then Brahmavar constituency, had lost by 4,763 votes against the non-party candidate Jayaprakash Hegde.

Even so, she was recognized as an influential leader in the party. Prasad Raj Kanchan, who is familiar with his mother’s politics, has tested his luck from Udupi assembly constituency for the first time.

Yet Prasad Raj belonged to the powerful Mogaveera community of coastal Karnataka. He also belongs to a family with a political background. Apart from this, Prasad Raj Kanchan is a businessman who owns Hyundai dealership in many places including Udupi.
