Karnataka Election 2023: Karnataka former CM Jagdish Shettar has announced his resignation as an MLA and primary member of the party in the wake of the BJP high command’s instructions to withdraw from the Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency. Former CM Jagdish Shettar has announced his resignation to BJP.

He announced this decision in a press conference after the night talks with the BJP senior leaders failed at his residence in Madura Colony, Keshwapur, Hubli. I will go to Shirasi tomorrow and meet Speaker Vishweshwar Hegade Kageri and resign from the MLA post. Later, I will tell you what my next stand will be,” he said.

“There is a fear that if BJP comes to power, Shettar will enter the CM race. So he accused me of conspiring against me, and he is sure to contest. I will take the opinion of important people and take the next decision,” he said. BJP state election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Joshi and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tried to convince Jagdish Shettar tonight.

BJP is yet to announce candidates for 12 constituencies including Hubli-Dharwad Central.
