Meanwhile, Bommai has held several department-wise meetings for budget preparation.

Sources said that the Karnataka chief minister, who also has the finance department, is preparing to present a budget that will appeal to the poor, middle class, downtrodden Dalits and farmers. Bommai will present the Karnataka budget 2023 on Friday, February 17 at 10:15 am. The budget speech is expected to last for about an hour. Debate on the budget will be held from February 20 to 22.

Sources said that Basavaraja Bommai preparing to present a big budget Rs 3 Lakh Crores. Last time he had presented a budget of Rs 2,65,720 crore. Sources said that due to the increase in tax revenue this year, the budget size is naturally expected to be higher. In the last ten months, the tax collection for the state exchequer has been higher than expected.

More than Rs 6,000 crores of tax has been collected in the month of January alone. A huge revenue has been collected through commercial tax, 70 thousand crore rupees by the end of March. Commercial tax collection is expected. Rs 77,010 crore in the year 2022-23. The Finance Department estimates the commercial tax collection. Rs 40,000 crores in this year’s budget for agriculture and ancillary activities.

The grant is expected to be announced. Rs 75,000 crore for Sarvodaya and Welfare Development Scheme, Rs 60,000 crore for promotion of economic development, Rs 10,000 crore for Bangalore Comprehensive Development, Rs 400 crore for preservation of culture, heritage and natural resources. Additional funding is likely to be Rs 65,000 crore for governance reform and public service, Rs 50,000 crore for women empowerment and welfare, Rs 50,000 crore for child welfare, and Rs 10,000 crore for health, education, skill development and other public welfare programmes.
