NIA Bumper Offer: 15 lakh reward for information on most wanted terrorist

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday announced a cash reward of Rs 15 lakh for absconding terrorist accused Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa, According to the report, Landa, a resident of Harike village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, currently residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is wanted in cases related to illegal activities of banned terrorist organizations across the country. In December last year, the Punjab Police had arrested four of Lakhbir Landa’s associates and seized four country-based weapons along with magazines and ammunition.According to reports, one of the arrested has been identified as Gurlal Singh, who is wanted by counter-intelligence in connection with the seizure of explosives.

He had been evading arrest for the past several months. Along with Gurlal, Rajbir Singh Raja, Armandeep Singh alias Lakha and Gurlal Singh, residents of Tarn Taran area of Punjab, have been arrested. Lakhbir Singh Landa was not only involved in several crimes, but was also allegedly involved in the Mohali and Sarhali Kalan RPG attacks and the killing of Gurjant Singh. The Sarhali attack was carried out on the direction of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, police said.

The first case against Lakhbir Landa was said to be under the Arms Act 10 years ago. According to reports, he is already facing 18 criminal cases including murder, attempt to murder and drug trafficking. The main area of influence of Landa is Tarn Taran district. According to the police, he has also influenced Amritsar Rural and Ferozepur. In 2017, Landa is said to have fled to Canada, where his wife lives. Lakhbir Singh was inactive between 2016 and 2020, a police official said.
