Karnataka former CM Jagdish Shettar has announced his resignation as an MLA and primary member of the party in the wake of the BJP high command’s instructions to withdraw from the Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency. He announced this decision in a yesterday press conference after the night talks with the BJP senior leaders failed at his residence in Madura Colony, Keshwapur, Hubli. Today he meets Speaker Vishweshwar Hegade Kageri and resigns from the MLA post. As per some report says that Jagdish Shettar will join congress today in Bengaluru with presence of state congress leaders.

“There is a fear that if BJP comes to power, Shettar will enter the CM race. So he accused me of conspiring against me, and he is sure to contest. I will take the opinion of important people and take the next decision,” he said. BJP state election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Joshi and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tried to convince Jagdish Shettar last night.

BJP is yet to announce candidates for 12 constituencies including Hubli-Dharwad Central. Party sources further mentioned that several options were given to Jagdish Shettar. “Shettar was given several options including a ticket being promised to a family member. He was also given the option of governorship or a larger role in the organisation. The top leadership in the party was in conversation with him,” sources said.
