The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that there has been a huge increase in the number of influenza cases across the country in the last two months. After the covid epidemic, the number of cases of cold flu has increased, which has caused anxiety among people. ICMR has also released an advisory note on this issue. It said that these infection cases are being reported due to influenza A subtype H3N2 virus (H3N2 virus). Infections caused by the H3N2 virus cause more hospitalizations than other subtypes. ICMR experts said that the spread of this infection has increased in the last 2-3 months.

Symptoms of infection:

Constant cough, fever are the main symptoms of this infection. The ICMR said that in the recently reported cases, the infected were found to be symptomatic for a long period of time. It takes time for the infection to subside. Symptoms are strong.

As soon as fever, cold, phlegm and other health problems appear, antibiotics should not be taken unless absolutely necessary. The Indian Medical Association has already warned that even doctors should not advise patients to take antibiotics. This has also been reiterated by ICMR.

Phlegm, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, fever, body ache, dysentery appear in those infected with the H3N2 influenza virus. There has been a sudden increase in these cases recently. The infection usually lasts five to seven days. Fever subsides within three days. However, the Indian Medical Association said that the cough only lasts for three weeks.
