Human Milk Bank: Inauguration of Mother Milk Bank at Hassan for prevention of mother’s milk

Mother’s milk bank has been inaugurated at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences. These milk banks collect, test, process, store and distribute breast milk. Mother is compared to God. Her breast milk (Human Milk Bank) is compared to nectar. Currently, such a breast milk bank has been opened at Hassan. These milk banks collect, test, process, store and distribute breast milk. This will greatly benefit the needy babies and the children of sick mothers. Human Milk Bank was launched by Excise Minister, Hassan District In-charge Minister K. Gopaliah inaugurated it. HIMS press release said that the facility will help treat malnutrition among infants, adopted babies and babies whose mothers have died after giving birth.

Naveen Raj Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Medical Education and Director, HIMS, Dr. B.C. Ravi Kumar spoke and requested the public to make good use of this facility. HIMS will conduct a three-day medical exhibition on breast milk bank from March 16. In order to educate the public about breast milk banks, all departments of the college will set up booths and provide information about various aspects of human body and health, said Dr. Ravikumar said. He said that school children and public can visit this exhibition from 9 am to 4 pm.

Drinking mother’s breast milk for at least one year after birth has a lot of effect on the physical, mental and development of children. So it is mandatory that all mothers should give breast milk to their new born children without giving any other food. But due to bad luck, or due to many problems, many children do not get milk from the mother immediately after birth. Some mothers have problems with not getting enough milk. Therefore, HIMS has taken such an important step in the view that the development of children should be helped by providing breast milk collected from mothers who have access to milk to those who do not have access to it.
