The announcement informed that the incentive money given under Indira Gandhi Balika Yojana has been increased from Rs 35 thousand to Rs 2 lakh. Talking to reporters at a program, Sukhkhu said, ‘Parents who adopt family planning after the birth of a girl child will be given Rs 2 lakh and parents who decide not to have another child after having two girls will be given Rs 1 lakh as an incentive.

Chief Minister along with Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil presented awards to several districts including Chamba, Shimla and Mandi districts for maintaining good gender ratio.

Parents with only one daughter will now get Rs 2 lakh. And Rs 1 lakh for those who decide not to have another child after two daughters. (increased from the existing 25,000) will be given, the CM said.
