Heavy Rainfall: IMD Issued Red Alert, Orange Alert on these states

Along with the Red Alert in Uttarakhand, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Uttarakhand on today, July 7. Amid the red alert, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the District Collectors of all concerned districts to be vigilant. The IMD forecast has predicted heavy rainfall in nine districts of the state. The CM instructed Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman along with other officials of the Disaster Management Department to maintain vigilant monitoring over all districts from the State Emergency Operations Center of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA).

Along with the Red Alert in Uttarakhand, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. On Saturday, IMD scientist Ramashray Yadav said, “Gujarat’s weather forecast covers all districts that light to moderate rains are expected in the state for the next seven days.

The Meteorological Agency has forecast light to moderate rain with widespread thunder and lightning over East and Northeast India till July 11. Heavy rain is expected over Kerala till July 9. An IMD press release on July 6 predicted “isolated heavy rain” in Goa till July 10, Maharashtra and Karnataka over the next three days, Andhra Pradesh on July 7 and Telangana over the next two days.

A red alert has been announced in coastal Karnataka today and heavy rainfall has been predicted in all the coastal districts. A red alert has been given to Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts, and a yellow alert has been given to these districts for three days starting tomorrow from July 8 to 10.

In the background of heavy rains in the coastal area, the State Meteorological Department has issued a warning to the fishermen of the state not to do any fishing including small fishing and not to go into the sea. Meanwhile, heavy sea scarcity warning has been issued for Mulki, Kapu, Byndur, Majali, Bhatkal coasts and wind speed of 45 kmph is likely. In this case, there is a possibility of huge waves.
