Talking to media about this, he said that there is a possibility that the cases of corona mutated virus or Omicron’s sub-species BF-7 virus will be widespread in 10 countries including China and USA, so everyone should take booster dose compulsorily and protect ourselves.

Also, looking at the situation, guidelines will be implemented for the New Year, he said. Experts said that the rate of BF-7 virus is increasing in five countries including China, Thailand, South Korea and Japan, and RT-PCR test is mandatory for travellers coming to India from those regions.

From Friday to Saturday, 201 cases were reported in the country and 3397 cases were active. He also said that there are 16 cases since Saturday and there has been no increase. Amid spurt in COVID-19 infections in some parts of the world and cases of Omicron subvariant BF.7 found in the country.

The Karnataka government on Monday is likely to decide on preventive measures and guidelines to be followed in the days ahead, including for the New Year celebrations. The state may decide on the guidelines at a meeting headed by the Health and Disaster Management Ministers, along with technical experts.

“Health and Disaster Management Ministers (K Sudhakar and R Ashoka respectively) will hold discussions, several instructions have come from the Centre and the state government need to take certain decisions after analysing the factual situation on the Corona spread,” Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Sunday.
