Big shock to KSRTC passangers: Bengaluru-Mysore highway bus fare hike

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has increased bus fares between Bangalore and Mysore. After the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) started collecting toll on the newly opened 199-km Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has announced an increase in ticket fares for travel between the two cities. The fares have been revised separately for Volvo and general buses, with an increase of Rs 15 for passengers travelling in Karnataka Transport buses, Rs 18 for Rajahamsa buses and Rs 20 for multi-axle and other buses. Anbu Kumar, Managing Director of KSRTC said that since the toll rate is slightly higher on the Mysore Bangalore Expressway, there is an inevitable increases in the ticket price.

Trucks/buses (two axles) have to pay Rs 460 (one-way) and Rs 690 (round trip within 24 hours) on Bangalore-Mysore highway tolls. A monthly pass (50 single trips) for the bus costs Rs 15,325. KSRTC is one of the largest public transport providers in India, operating over 28 lakh kilometers through its 8000 schedules and carrying 28 lakh passengers.

The Mysore-Bangalore highway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite of strong opposition. After the inauguration National Highways Authority has started first phase of toll collection on national highways has been started since morning despite strong opposition.
