Villagers protest in Mandya: Tension prevailed in Ikanahallikoppalu village of KR Pet taluk after villagers staged a protest outside the homes of the president and secretary of the local women’s milk producers’ cooperative society, accusing them of large-scale financial irregularities.
Angered by the alleged misuse of funds running into lakhs of rupees, villagers poured milk in front of the houses of society president Radha and secretary Yashodha, demanding immediate action against those responsible.
According to the protesters, the mismanagement has not only caused injustice to shareholders and dairy farmers but has also crippled the cooperative’s financial stability. Despite repeated complaints over the past several months, no concrete action has been taken, prompting villagers to resort to symbolic protest.
The villagers urged the authorities to initiate a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption, recover the misused funds, and restore the cooperative’s integrity. They warned that failure to act swiftly could lead to intensified agitations in the coming days.
