PU Student Drugged and Sexually Assaulted; Accused nabbed after confession to friend

Chikkaballapura : A shocking incident of sexual assault has come to light in Chikkaballapura, where a minor Pre-University (PU) student was allegedly drugged and assaulted by a bike-borne man. The police have successfully arrested the accused, identified as Ganesh, following a late-night combing operation and a crucial tip-off. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and investigations are currently underway.
The victim, a student residing in a hostel at Swagrama within Chikkaballapura taluk but studying at a college in Bagepalli, was returning to her hostel when the incident occurred. She was standing near a bus stop at the Perasandra Cross awaiting transport. The accused, Ganesh, approached her under the guise of offering a lift. It is alleged that he sedated the student by offering her a spiked drink before forcing her onto his motorcycle.
Taking advantage of her condition, Ganesh transported the student to a secluded spot and committed the crime. However, in a twist of events, the accused, reportedly overwhelmed by guilt and panic, called a friend after the incident and confessed to the heinous act. The friend, acting responsibly, immediately alerted the police.
Acting swiftly on the information, the Perasandra police tracked the mobile phone signals of the accused. A late-night combing operation was launched in the isolated area, leading to the discovery of the accused and the rescue of the student. The victim was immediately shifted to a government children’s home for safety and rehabilitation.
Further inquiries revealed that the accused is a native of Chikkaballapura and is married with children. The victim, who had recently lost her mother, was staying with her uncle to pursue her education. The police have intensified their probe to ensure that all evidence is gathered to secure a strong charge sheet against the perpetrator. The incident has sparked concern regarding the safety of students in the region.
