Minor kidnapping attempt: YouTuber among two arrested in Ramanagara, POCSO case registered


Ramanagara ;An alleged attempt to kidnap and sexually harass a minor girl under the influence of alcohol has been reported from Magadi in Bengaluru South district. Magadi police have arrested two persons, including a YouTuber, and registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to the police, the incident took place on New Year’s night when the minor was returning home after celebrating the New Year at a relative’s house. The accused allegedly stopped the girl on the road, tried to forcibly pull her into a car and behaved inappropriately with her.

Police said the girl did not return home as expected, following which her parents and relatives began searching for her. During the search, the victim’s brother received a phone call, which was answered to find that the minor was speaking from the mobile phone of one of the accused.

Realising the seriousness of the situation, family members and local residents immediately traced the vehicle, intercepted it and rescued the girl. The accused were then confronted by locals, and the vehicle involved was damaged before the police arrived at the spot.

Illegal New Year party at farmhouse

Police investigation revealed that a New Year party had been organised at a farmhouse in Magadi by a man identified as Venkatesh, without obtaining permission from the authorities. Several people, including YouTubers, were present at the party.

One of the arrested accused has been identified as Ravichandra, a YouTuber from Sira in Tumakuru district. Police said Ravichandra allegedly attempted to abduct the minor after the party.

Based on the complaint, Magadi police arrested both Venkatesh and Ravichandra and booked them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.

Two other YouTubers from Mandya district, identified as Kempa and Kabja Sharana, who were reportedly present at the party and later went missing, subsequently appeared at the police station. Angry locals allegedly assaulted them before police intervened.

Ramanagara MLA H.C. Balakrishna visited the police station and directed officials to take strict legal action against those responsible.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of others present at the party and to take action as per law.
