Karnataka Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Alert In Five Districts on October 9

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), said that weather conditions are expected to change abruptly on October 9, with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall likely in six districts of South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru. The IMD has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Urban, and Bengaluru Rural. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions as sudden spells of intense rainfall could disrupt normal life.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, while Uttara Kannada is likely to continue experiencing dry weather. Across North Interior Karnataka, including Bagalkote, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Kalaburagi, and other districts, no significant rainfall is expected, with dry weather likely to prevail throughout the day.

In the Malnad region, Hassan, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. No widespread or heavy rainfall was recorded anywhere in Karnataka during the last 24 hours. Napoklu in Kodagu received 4 cm of rainfall, while Begur in Chamarajanagar recorded 3 cm, making them the highest rainfall recipients during the period.

With heavy rain forecast for parts of southern Karnataka on Wednesday, commuters and residents of low-lying areas have been advised to remain vigilant. Sudden downpours could lead to traffic congestion, waterlogging, and disruptions to daily life, particularly in Bengaluru and surrounding districts. Authorities have urged the public to monitor weather updates and plan travel accordingly.
