Karnataka Heavy Rainfall: Issued Alert for 13 districts

Heavy rainfall is anticipated particularly in Coastal, North Interior, and South Interior Karnataka, prompting authorities to issue a Yellow Alert for 13 districts.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the monsoon has regained strength in Karnataka, and widespread rainfall is expected across the state over the next few days. Heavy rainfall is anticipated particularly in Coastal, North Interior, and South Interior Karnataka, prompting authorities to issue a Yellow Alert for 13 districts.

Due to the high intensity of thunder and strong winds during the rain, the meteorological department has advised the general public and farmers to stay in safe shelters. The following 13 districts are under a Yellow Alert due to the likelihood of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and gusty winds:

Coastal Districts: Udupi, Dakshina Kannada

North Interior: Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Koppal, Ballari, VijayanagaraSouth Interior / Malnad: Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga

Region-Wise weather report:

1. Coastal Region:

Dakshina Kannada & Udupi: The monsoon winds are highly active, and heavy rain is likely at one or two places. Precautionary measures have already been put in place.

Uttara Kannada: Most parts of the district will experience light to moderate rainfall.

2. North Karnataka:

Dharwad, Haveri, Belagavi & Koppal: Rain activity will increase significantly, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms expected at isolated places.Bagalkote, Bidar, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayapura & Yadgiri: Moderate rain is forecast in several areas across these districts.

3. Malnad & South Interior Region:

Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Ballari, Vijayanagara & Chitradurga: The Malnad region and parts of the South Interior will face persistent cloudy weather with heavy rain in isolated pockets.

Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara & Tumakuru: These districts are likely to get moderate rainfall accompanied by cool winds.
