While the state is heading into summer, a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea are bringing unseasonal rain.
The rain is primarily expected in the South Interior and specific North Interior regions:
South Interior & Malnad (6 Districts): Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Mandya, and Chamarajanagar.
North Interior (5 Districts): Yadgir, Raichur, Bidar, Kalaburgi, and Vijayapura.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Yadgir, Raichur, Bidar, Kalaburgi, and Vijayapura districts. Expect isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
In the last 24 hours, Bagalkote and Kalaburgi have already recorded significant unseasonal showers. Despite the rain, minimum temperatures remain above normal in many areas, particularly in Coastal Karnataka (Karwar/Mangaluru). Farmers are advised to protect harvested crops as sudden thundershowers can cause damage.
