IMD Issued heavy rainfall alert in Karnataka till August 30
IMD Issued Heavy Rainfall: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for heavy rainfall in Karnataka, with an alert in place until at least August 30, 2025. This comes after a period of intense monsoon activity in the state.
Coastal and Malnad Regions:
Heavy rain is expected to occur at a few places over the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada on August 26 and 27.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places over these coastal districts from August 28 to August 29.
These coastal and Malnad regions have already seen significant rainfall in the preceding weeks, leading to rising river levels and some flooding.

North and South Interior Karnataka:
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely to occur in many places in the districts of North and South Interior Karnataka throughout the forecast period.
The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for several districts in these regions, including Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Shivamogga.
The forecast indicates that the state will continue to experience varied climatic conditions, with significant rainfall expected in several districts. The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is a contributing factor to the enhanced rainfall activity.
Residents in low-lying areas and along riverbanks, particularly in coastal and hilly regions, are advised to take precautionary measures. Travelers are also urged to stay updated on the latest weather alerts and warnings.
