Indian Railways recruitment: The Indian Railways is undertaking a significant recruitment drive through the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) for the financial year 2025-26, with plans to fill over 50,000 vacancies. This is part of a larger initiative to address staffing needs and strengthen the railway system.
Massive Vacancies: The Ministry of Railways has officially announced plans to offer more than 50,000 appointments in FY 2025-26. This comes after over 9,000 appointments have already been issued in the first quarter of this financial year.

On-going Recruitment Drive: Since November 2024, RRBs have conducted Computer Based Tests (CBTs) for over 1.86 crore candidates for seven different notifications, covering 55,197 vacancies. This shows the continuous and large-scale nature of railway recruitment.
Previous Announcements: In total, 12 notifications covering 1,08,324 vacancies have been issued since 2024, as per the annual calendar published by RRBs.
Further Plans: The momentum is expected to continue, with another 50,000+ appointments planned for the next financial year, 2026-27.
Fairness and Transparency:
Aadhaar-based e-KYC: For the first time in such large-scale exams, Aadhaar-based e-KYC authentication is being used for candidate identity verification, achieving over 95% success.
Jammers at Exam Centers: To prevent cheating through electronic devices, jammers are being deployed 100% across all RRB exam centers.
Accessible Exam Centers: RRBs are making efforts to allot exam centers closer to candidates’ places of residence, with special preference given to female and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates.
Types of Posts Expected:
The vacancies are expected to be across various posts, including:
Technical (e.g., ALP, Technicians, JE)
Non-Technical (e.g., NTPC categories like Commercial Apprentice, Station Master, Clerk)
Ministerial
Level-1 (erstwhile Group D)
Application Process and Important Dates:
While a general announcement for 50,000 posts has been made, specific notifications for various posts are released by individual Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) throughout the year.
For example, a specific notification for BLW Indian Railways Apprentice Recruitment 2025 has already been released for 374 ITI & Non-ITI seats, with applications open until August 5, 2025. This is just one of many such recruitment drives.
