Heat Wave alert in Karnataka: Health department released Summer Guidelines

Karnataka Heat Wave alert: In view of the increased heat in the state, the health department has published guidelines to protect against the dangers of sun stroke and heat stroke. According to the guidelines of the health department, new born babies, small children, pregnant women, those who work outdoors, people with mental problems, especially those suffering from heart disease and blood pressure should take precautions. Summer Guidelines What should the public do?

  • Drink more water to protect yourself from heatstroke
  • Lemon juice, buttermilk, lassi, fruit juices should be consumed with a pinch of salt.
  • Watermelon, water melon, orange, grape, pineapple, cucumber, water should be consumed which have high water content.
  • Light-colored, non-sticky cotton clothes should be worn. Hats and umbrellas should be kept for shade.

What not to do?

  • Avoid going out between 12 pm and 3 pm.
  • Strenuous outdoor activities should not be undertaken during noon.
  • Avoid the habit of going out without wearing sandals
  • Avoid cooking at midday, open windows and doors not in the cooking area.
  • Alcohol, coffee and carbonated drinks or drinks with high sugar content should be avoided. Such drinks detoxify the body or cause stomach ache.
  • Strenuous and outdoor activities should be done when the temperature is lower i.e. morning or evening.
