Bollywood famous Actor Sulochana Passes Away

Veteran actor and one of Bollywood’s favourite ‘moms’, Sulochana Latkar has died. She was 94. Sulochana was known for her work in more than 200 Hindi films and many Marathi titles as well. Bollywood famous Actor Sulochana Passes Away.

She was a recipient of the civilian honour of Padma Shri. Kanchan Ghanekar, Sulochana’s daughter, confirmed the news to ABP News over the phone. At Dada’s Shivaji Park crematorium, her final rituals will be performed today at 5 pm.

At Mumbai’s Sushrusha Hospital, the 94-year-old actress was getting medical treatment. On Saturday, Sulochana’s condition deteriorated, and consequently, she was put on a ventilator, which was started last night. She had been receiving a continuous oxygen supply before that.

Condolences poured in for the actor who, for many years, largely portrayed the mother roles of the main actors in Bollywood films. Actor Riteish Deshmukh paid her a tribute and wrote,“The news of the death of Sulochana Didi is very sad. A heartfelt tribute to this great actress who ruled the hearts of audiences in Marathi and Hindi cinema.”

PM Narendra Modi also tweeted, “The passing of Sulochana Ji leaves a big void in the world of Indian cinema. Her unforgettable performances have enriched our culture and have endeared her to people across generations. Her cinematic legacy will live on through her works. Condolences to her family. Om Shanti.”

Sulochana began her career as an actor in Marathi films in the 1940s, and after starring in several successful Marathi films, she also appeared in a number of Hindi films. She played the moms of nearly all of the top actors, including Manoj Kumar, Dev Anand, and Mehmood.
