‘MA English Chaiwali’: Masters graduate opens Tea shop

The parents of Tuktuki Das of Kolkata always used to tell her that if she studies hard, she will touch the sky one day. She wanted to make her a teacher. For this she studied diligently. Das did well in the examinations and secured an MA in English.

But even after this Das could not get the job. she gave many exams. Did everything to be successful. But she could not get success. In such a situation, Tuktuki started selling tea. Tuktuki Das opened a tea stall at Howrah station in North 24 Parganas. She named the shop ‘MA English Chaiwali’. Tuktuki’s father is a van driver.

Her mother has a small grocery shop. At first both of them were not happy with this decision of Tuktuki. Despite this, Tuktuki was determined to fulfill this plan. She was inspired by reading about ‘MBA Chaiwala’ on the internet.

She told ‘I believe that no work is small. That’s why I also decided to open my own tea shop just like MBA Chaiwala. Initially, it was difficult to find a place for this, but later I was successful in it. Now I sell tea and snacks. I have named this shop because I am MA, News18 reported.

Tuktuki Das is moving ahead with the same thinking that no work is small. Her dream is to increase her business further. Her father Prashanto Das said, ‘Initially we were not happy with this decision. We taught her with the hope that she would become a teacher.

But she opened a tea shop. Then I thought that if she has this decision to become self-reliant then it is good. People who go to Tuktuki shop for tea are attracted to the name of the shop. Many passengers at the station agree with its motto of self-reliance. Das also believes that Tuktuki’s story can be an inspiration to other deserving youth of the country who are not able to secure jobs for themselves.
