Delhi: In his televised address to the nation on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a ‘janata curfew’ on Sunday, March 22 as he stressed on the importance of social distancing in country’s fight against the menace of Coronavirus. At a time when the COVID19 infection has claimed 4 lives and affected over 170 people across the country, PM Modi requested people to avoid visiting hospitals for routine checkups. The government led by the Finance Minister has a decided to constitute a Covid-19-Economic Response Task Force, PM Modi said while stressing that the diseases has impacted country’s economy too.
Earlier, a 70-year-old man, who had returned from Germany via Italy to Delhi, passed away in Punjab on Thursday, taking the total number of death due to Coronavirus in India to 4. The number of those affected by the virus has crossed 170 in India. Meanwhile, the government has also announced that no commercial international flights will be allowed to land in India from Sunday, March 22 for a week as cases of Coronavirus continue to rise in the country. In developments today, the University Grants Council (UGC) asked universities to postpone exams till March 31. Also, CBSE, ICSE board class 10,12 exams have been postponed till March 31.
