At least three people, including a policeman and a child, died in a suicide blast that trageted a police truck in the Baleli area of Quetta near Pakistan’s Balochistan on Wednesday. At least 24 others, including 20 police officers, were injured in the blast, a report said. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. According to Pakistani media reports, the moving police truck toppled and fell into a ditch following the explosion that took place near the vehicle. Police, a rescue team and a bomb disposal squad have been rushed to the blast site. It is estimated that 25 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

Quetta DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar confirmed to Pakistan media that the explosion was a suicide attack as they found remains of a suicide bomber at the site. He said that the police truck toppled due to the explosion and fell into a ravine, Geo News reported.

According to Dawn, the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack. Today’s blast comes a day after the militant group called off its ceasefire with the government and asked its combatants to carry out attacks across the country, the report said.

As per the official, three vehicles, including the police truck, and two nearby cars were damaged in the explosion. The blast site has been cordoned off and further investigation is underway.
