Mysuru: Accused working as carpenter, driver, electrician, studied up to 7 class: Praveen Sood

Mysuru: State DG and IGP Praveen Sood told reporters that police succeeded in arresting 5 accused in gang rape case of MBA student at foothills of Chamundi hills on Tuesday. He said that all the accused are from Tirupur in Tamilnadu.

He said accused working as carpenter, driver, electrician and other jobs, studied up to 7 class, coming to Mysuru for job. Investigation revealed an accused is juvenile, aged 17 years though he juvenile the law was amended now and hearing will be held at regular court.

DG and IGP also said that accused visiting frequently to Bandipalya market in Mysuru and partying in secluded place when the incident happened, accused have motive to rob the boy and girl and demanded Rs 3 lakh from them.

Praveen sood continued said accused were arrested based on scientific and technical evidences, he brought the issue to the notice of chief minister Basavaraja Bommai who instructed to give Rs 5 lakh cash reward to the police team.

He said this is for the first time in his professional career he speaking to media in less than 20 hours. The victim did not give statement to police so far and hoped that she would co-operate to police during hearing. He said police investigating whether the accused involved in robbery case earlier.
