Mumbai Murder: Man killed girlfriend, body chopped and boiled in cooker

Mumbai Murder: In yet another incident similar to the Shraddha Walkar murder case, a 32-year-old woman was murdered and her body was chopped into pieces allegedly by her 56-year-old live-in partner at their rented accommodation at Mira Road in Mumbai. Police said she was killed 2-3 days back.

The accused, identified as Manoj Sahani, had been staying with Saraswati Vaidya, 36, in flat 704 at Geeta Akash Deep building in Geeta Nagar Phase 7 over the past three years. Police were alerted by local residents who complained of a foul smell emanating from the flat. Manoj runs a small shop in Boriwali.

Police said that over 12-13 pieces of the woman’s body were recovered from the site.  He killed then chopped her body into pieces and boiled them in a pressure cooker before disposing of them. Nayanagar police station received a call from the residents of the building on Wednesday evening who complained about the foul smell emanating from the couple’s flat.

The decomposing body parts found in his house led to suspicion that the murder could have occurred three-four days ago. A team rushed to the spot and found the decomposed body of the woman, which was cut into several pieces.

“Manoj Sahani and Saraswati Vaidya were in a live-in relationship and used to live in the Geeta Akash Deep building. The couple had a fight over some matter following which the woman was murdered by her partner. Her body was cut into pieces with a cutter.

When we reached the house and opened the door, we understood it was a case of murder and the suspect tried to hide the evidence,” Jayant Bajbale, deputy commissioner of police told media. The police are investigating to find out the motive behind the murder. The police have taken into custody the suspect and he is being interrogated.
