The intelligence agencies on Sunday raided the house rented by Mohammed Shariq, accused in the Mangaluru blast case, in Mysore and recovered explosives, one mobile phone, two fake Aadhaar cards, one PAN, debit card and an unused SIM as probe into Shariq’s terror links intensifies.

Shariq and an auto driver sustained burn injuries after an explosion occurred inside a moving auto rickshaw in Mangaluru two days ago. Investigation revealed that the blast was indeed an “act of terror” and a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers were dispatched to the coastal Karntaka district.

A day after Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood said that Shariq had travelled to Tamil Nadu recently, one more suspect, a native of Assam, has been detained for questioning in Tamil Nadu’s Nagercoil.

Auto driver not in condition to talk yet

The ADGP explained that more information will be gathered after the autorickshaw driver and the passenger are in a condition to talk. According to the police, the auto driver Purshottam Pujari had sustained 20-25 percent burn injuries and they have been trying to give him the required medical treatment to help him survive as “he needs to be interrogated”.

CM Bommai says govt will solve case

After the blast was linked to a terror act, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai assured that the government will crack this case. He said that the IED exploded inside a pressure cooker in an autorickshaw. Bommai said that the man, who was travelling in the auto might have terror links, but more information will come out after the detailed investigation.
