Bus accident in Chittoor : 7 killed and 45 people injured

In Bhakarapet in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, a bus fell off a cliff and into a ravine around 11.30 pm on Saturday. Bus accident in Chittoor: 7 killed and 45 people injured. As a result, seven people died and 45 were injured. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The PMO on Twitter said, the PM announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from PMNRF. “Pained by the loss of lives in a tragic bus accident in Chittoor, AP. Condolences to the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover soon.

The next of kin of the deceased would be given Rs. 2 lakhs from PMNRF and Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured,” the tweet read. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Further, he directed officials to provide the best possible healthcare for those who were critically injured. Meanwhile, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed his anguish over the incident and offered condolences to the bereaved families.

The Superintendent of Police in Tirupati said, “The accident happened as the bus fell off the cliff due to driver’s negligence. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.” The private bus was carrying a wedding party of 63 people from Dharmavaram in Anantapur district to a village near Nagari in Chittoor. The bus was on its way via Ghat Road when it fell into the Aduputappi valley.
