Vodafone Idea to Expand 5G Network to 90 More Cities by May Strengthening Connectivity Across India

Vodafone Idea plans to extend its 5G coverage to 90 additional cities by May 2026, expanding from 43 to 133 cities nationwide to meet growing demand and boost high-speed connectivity

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced a major expansion of its 5G services, targeting the launch of 5G in 90 additional cities by May 2026. With this move, Vi’s 5G network will grow from 43 cities across 17 telecom circles to a total of 133 cities nationwide, reinforcing its position in India’s competitive data market.

The expansion will prioritize urban centers, industrial corridors, and areas with high data consumption. Key cities slated for rollout include Chennai, Hyderabad, Puducherry, Gandhinagar, Goa, Kolhapur, Sikar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Durgapur. The strategy emphasizes markets with strong 5G device demand to ensure high-performance connectivity for users.

Regionally, the rollout is structured for maximum impact. In North India, Vi will extend 5G coverage across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, reaching cities such as Karnal, Panipat, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Haridwar. Eastern India will see 5G expansion in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Sikkim, covering cities like Asansol, Durgapur, Darjeeling, and Gangtok.

In Western India, the network will grow in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, with additional coverage in Goa and Union Territories like Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Cities such as Gandhidham, Bhuj, Solapur, Kolhapur, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Kota, Sikar, Udaipur, Silvassa, and Daman will benefit from the upgrade.

Southern India will see the 5G rollout across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry, with cities including Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupati, Hyderabad, Tiruvalla, and Neelambur slated for early deployment. Meanwhile, in Central India, Bhopal and Gwalior will be the first cities to receive Vi’s enhanced 5G services.

By strategically prioritizing high-demand and high-traffic markets, Vodafone Idea aims to provide faster and more reliable 5G connectivity to millions of users across India, aligning with its broader data expansion strategy. This aggressive rollout underscores Vi’s commitment to strengthening its network infrastructure while catering to the growing need for high-speed mobile internet in urban and industrial hubs.
