Bidar blast: MLA Siddu Patil visits Molkera village, demands high-level probe

Bidar, : A mysterious explosion in Molkera village of Humnabad taluk in Bidar district has triggered panic and raised serious safety concerns, prompting local MLA Siddu Patil to visit the spot on Saturday. The legislator inspected the blast site in detail and interacted with senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and the Superintendent of Police (SP), to understand the preliminary findings of the investigation.

Police have deployed tight security across the village and surrounding areas as a precautionary measure. Teams are conducting intensive checks to ensure no further suspicious materials are present and to prevent any repeat incident. The explosion, which occurred earlier this week, left six people seriously injured, including schoolchildren, and caused widespread alarm among residents.

According to initial information, the blast is suspected to have originated from a drum containing chemical substances stored in the locality. However, officials have not ruled out other possibilities. Speaking to reporters after reviewing the situation, MLA Patil said the exact cause of the explosion could not be confirmed at this stage.

β€œIt is too early to jump to conclusions. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) are examining the site. Samples have already been collected and sent for detailed analysis. Only after the FSL report arrives will we be able to determine the real reason behind the blast and initiate appropriate legal action,” he stated.

Expressing strong concern over repeated incidents in the region, Patil pointed out that this was reportedly the fifth such explosion in the area within the last six months. β€œThere have been at least four to five similar blasts or loud explosive sounds in recent months. If the authorities had taken those warnings seriously and acted in time, this incident could have been avoided,” he said, voicing dissatisfaction over alleged administrative negligence.

The injured victims are currently undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. The MLA directed medical staff to provide the best possible care and assured that all necessary assistance would be extended to them. He also expressed worry over what could have been a major tragedy. β€œIf a school bus had been passing through the area at the time of the explosion, the situation could have been far worse with large-scale casualties,” Patil remarked.

Angry villagers have accused local authorities of ignoring earlier complaints about suspicious activities and hazardous materials in the area. They demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible.

Senior police officers have assured that a comprehensive probe is underway. The FSL report is expected to provide clarity on whether the blast was accidental or the result of illegal storage of chemicals. Until then, the administration has urged residents to remain cautious while security forces continue to monitor the situation closely.
