PM Modi Govt new order, people get Rs 300 benefit from every LPG booking
PM Modi: The Indian government has approved a subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This decision continues a targeted subsidy that was previously increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300 in October 2023.
Here are the key details of the new LPG subsidy:
Eligibility: The subsidy is exclusively for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This scheme provides deposit-free LPG connections to adult women from poor households.
Amount: The subsidy is set at Rs 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder. A proportionately pro-rated subsidy is also available for 5 kg cylinders.
Refills: Eligible beneficiaries can receive the subsidy for up to 9 refills per year.
Effective Period: The subsidy has been approved for the financial year 2025-26.
Total Expenditure: The total expenditure for this scheme is estimated at Rs 12,000 crore.
Compensation for OMCs: In a related move, the Cabinet has also approved a budgetary support of Rs 30,000 crore to public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) to cover their losses from selling LPG at regulated prices.
This is intended to keep LPG prices affordable for consumers and ensure a continuous supply. The subsidy amount is typically credited directly to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries.

Domestic LPG (14.2 kg cylinder) Price:
The price for domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged from the previous month. This is the price for non-subsidized cylinders.

Commercial LPG (19 kg cylinder) Price:
Oil marketing companies have reduced the price of commercial LPG cylinders by approximately Rs 33.50 effective from August 1, 2025. This is the fifth consecutive monthly reduction for commercial LPG.
