Redmi 17C 5G India Launch Set for October 1

Redmi is preparing to bring a new 5G smartphone to the Indian market, with the Redmi 17C 5G scheduled to make its debut on October 1. A live microsite has revealed the launch date along with several important specifications of the upcoming handset.

The new Redmi phone is being positioned around a combination of a large battery, high refresh rate display and 5G capable hardware. The company has also highlighted features designed to make the device practical for everyday use.

The Redmi 17C 5G will be available through the Xiaomi website, Amazon and Xiaomi retail outlets after its launch. Redmi has not yet revealed the official Indian price, so buyers will have to wait for the launch event for details about pricing and availability.

The phone will be offered in three colour options called Coffee Brew, Purple Dawn and Dark Night. These variants are expected to be available through the announced sales channels.

A 6.9 inch display will be one of the main features of the Redmi 17C 5G. The screen will support an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which should make scrolling and compatible animations appear smoother. A waterdrop notch will be placed on the front of the display.

Performance will come from the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset. The phone will be available with up to 8GB of RAM, giving the device hardware aimed at everyday applications, social media, streaming and other common smartphone tasks.

Battery capacity is another major highlight. The Redmi 17C 5G will carry a 6000mAh battery, with Redmi claiming up to 105 hours of music playback. The battery will support 33W fast charging, and the company says the phone can reach 80 percent charge in around 90 minutes under its specified conditions.

The camera setup will include a 50MP AI based dual camera system on the rear. Redmi has highlighted features such as portrait mode, HDR and selfie beautification. The camera software is designed to provide additional options for users taking photographs in different situations.

Software features will also form part of the phone experience. The Redmi 17C 5G will run on Xiaomi HyperOS and include Circle to Search functionality. This feature can allow users to search for information about selected content displayed on the screen.

Redmi has also focused on durability and usability in everyday conditions. The handset will have an IP64 rating for resistance against dust and water splashes.

Another feature being promoted is wet touch technology. This is intended to help the touchscreen remain responsive when the users fingers are wet, which could be useful when the phone is being used around water or in damp conditions.

The combination of a 6000mAh battery and 33W charging could make the Redmi 17C 5G particularly relevant to users who spend long periods away from a charger. The large 6.9 inch screen also gives the device a sizeable display for watching videos and browsing content.

The Dimensity 6300 chipset brings 5G connectivity to the phone, while the 8GB RAM configuration provides a reasonable amount of memory for multitasking. More details about storage options and other hardware are expected to be confirmed around the launch.
