Oppo Reno 16T Launches With 200MP Camera and 6700mAh Battery

Oppo has expanded its Reno smartphone lineup in China with the launch of the Reno 16T. The new model brings together a high resolution camera system, a large battery and a relatively compact body, while also offering a high refresh rate AMOLED screen.

The smartphone is priced at 3,699 yuan for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. This works out to roughly Rs 53,000 based on the supplied conversion. Oppo has also introduced a 16GB RAM and 512GB storage version, although the pricing for that configuration differs.

The Reno 16T is available in Heartbeat, Galaxy Purple and Moonlight Black colour options. Oppo has currently announced the smartphone for the Chinese market, and there is no confirmed information about an India launch at this stage.

One of the main attractions of the phone is its camera hardware. The rear setup consists of three cameras, led by a 200MP primary sensor with optical image stabilisation. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 116 degree field of view and a 50MP telephoto camera that also supports optical image stabilisation.

The telephoto camera supports up to 3.5 times optical zoom, while the phone offers up to 120 times digital zoom. On the front, Oppo has fitted a 50MP autofocus camera for selfies and video calls.

The display is another major part of the Reno 16T package. It uses a 6.32 inch flexible AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2640 by 1216 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can display up to 1.07 billion colours.

The panel has a pixel density of 460 PPI and a global peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. Oppo has also included touch sampling support of up to 240Hz, which can be useful for faster response during gaming and other interactive tasks.

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset. The device can be configured with up to 12GB LPDDR5X or LPDDR5 RAM and as much as 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This hardware combination is aimed at users who want strong everyday performance along with enough storage for applications, photos and videos.

Oppo has also added an AI Plus Key on the left side of the handset. The dedicated button can be used to access Mind Space, giving users a shortcut to the phones AI related functions.

Despite carrying a 6700mAh battery, the Reno 16T has been designed with a relatively compact body. The phone measures 8.36mm in thickness and weighs up to 191 grams depending on the colour variant.

Charging is handled through 80W SuperVOOC technology, while the phone also supports 80W UFCS charging. The combination of a large battery and fast charging is aimed at users who want longer usage without spending too much time connected to a charger.

For durability, Oppo has given the Reno 16T IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. The phone also features an optical fingerprint sensor integrated into the display.

Connectivity options include WiFi 6, Bluetooth, NFC and a USB Type C port. The smartphone supports dual Nano SIM connectivity as well, covering the standard wireless and wired features expected from a modern premium handset.

The Reno 16T therefore brings several high specification features into a phone that remains relatively compact. Its 200MP main camera, telephoto system, 120Hz AMOLED display and 6700mAh battery are among the specifications likely to attract attention.

For now, however, buyers outside China will have to wait for information about wider availability. Oppo has not announced an India launch date for the Reno 16T, leaving its international pricing and availability uncertain.
