Bengaluru Metro Pink Line Likely to Open by Mid-October

Bengaluru: In a major boost for commuters, the long-awaited elevated section of Namma Metro’s Pink Line is likely to open for public services by mid-October. The development comes after the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) received the crucial Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certification, confirming that the corridor meets the required safety and fitness standards.

Following the certification, BMRCL is set to submit all mandatory documents to the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for the next stage of the approval process. Once the documents are submitted, the CMRS will conduct the final safety inspection of the corridor.

The two-day inspection is expected to take place in early October, and BMRCL has already invited CMRS officials to carry out the comprehensive evaluation. If the safety inspection is completed successfully, the Railway Board is expected to grant approval for commercial operations within a week.

Subject to all regulatory clearances being received on schedule, the elevated section of the Pink Line is expected to be inaugurated and opened to passengers by mid-October. In the initial phase, six metro trains will operate on the corridor. During peak hours, trains are expected to run at six-minute intervals, while services during non-peak hours are likely to operate every 10 minutes, ensuring convenient and efficient travel for commuters.
