Belagavi Bus Accident Kills Three Young Men Returning From Ganesh Procession

A festive evening in Belagavi ended on a tragic note after three young men lost their lives in a road accident near Saundatti. The victims were reportedly returning home on a motorcycle after watching a Ganesh procession when their bike collided with a KSRTC bus.

The accident took place on the outskirts of Saundatti in Belagavi district. According to the preliminary information, the KSRTC bus was travelling from Saundatti towards Dharwad, while the motorcycle was coming from the Dharwad side towards Saundatti.

The collision was severe, leaving all three people travelling on the motorcycle dead. The victims were identified as Vinod Hogenavar, 22, Akash Jadhav, 20, and Ravi Kurubar, 22. All three were residents of Saundatti.

The incident occurred as the young men were making their way home after participating in the festive atmosphere around the Ganesh procession. What had begun as an evening of celebration quickly turned into a devastating loss for their families.

Saundatti police reached the accident site and carried out an initial inspection. Officials are collecting further information to determine the circumstances that led to the collision. A detailed investigation is expected to establish how the motorcycle and bus came into contact.

The accident has caused shock in Belagavi, particularly because it came soon after another serious tragedy in the district during the Ganesh festival.

Earlier, four members of a family died in a house fire in Chavhan Galli in Belagavi. The incident reportedly occurred during the night after the family had celebrated Ganesh festival activities and gone to sleep.

Two other people were injured in the fire and were taken to hospital for treatment. The deaths in that incident had already brought sorrow to the locality before news of the fatal road accident emerged.

A suspected electrical short circuit in the kitchen has been mentioned as a possible cause of the house fire. Preliminary information also suggested that a refrigerator may have caught fire or exploded, allowing the flames to spread inside the house. However, the exact cause has not yet been officially confirmed by the police.

The two incidents are unrelated, but their timing has made the festival period particularly painful for several families in the district.

Road traffic often becomes heavier around major festival celebrations as people travel to see processions, visit relatives and return home late in the evening. The Saundatti crash has once again drawn attention to the importance of caution on roads during such busy periods.

Police are continuing to gather details about the collision, while the deaths of Vinod Hogenavar, Akash Jadhav and Ravi Kurubar have left their families and local residents in mourning.
