Honor Play 11 Launches With 8300mAh Battery and AI Button

Honor has added another smartphone to its Play series with the launch of the Honor Play 11 in China. The new model focuses on battery life and durability while also adding an AI button and a high refresh rate display to its feature list.

The phone starts at 1399 yuan in China, which is roughly Rs 20000. This entry price applies to the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version. The 8GB RAM and 128GB model costs 1449 yuan, while the higher 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at 1749 yuan.

Honor is offering the Play 11 in Desert Gold, Mist Purple, Meteor Silver and Phantom Black. The company has not announced an India or international launch for the phone so far.

The large battery is one of the biggest highlights of the new smartphone. Honor Play 11 packs an 8300mAh battery, although its rated capacity is listed at 7900mAh. It supports 45W wired charging along with wired reverse charging, allowing the phone to provide power to another compatible device when required.

The display measures 6.872 inches and uses a TFT LCD panel. It offers a resolution of 1592 by 720 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate should make everyday scrolling and compatible animations feel smoother.

Honor has also included several display comfort features. The panel supports DC dimming and an Eye Comfort Mode, while a natural light style display mode is available for users who prefer a softer viewing experience. Peak brightness in HBM mode is rated at up to 1020 nits.

Performance is handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor. The phone comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, while storage options include 128GB and 256GB. This combination places the Play 11 in the affordable smartphone category while offering enough hardware for regular apps, social media and everyday multitasking.

The software experience is based on Android 16 with MagicOS 10.0. Honor has also given the phone a physical AI button on the side, making it easier to access selected smart functions without navigating through multiple menus.

The dedicated button can perform tasks such as quickly dismissing a pop up window. It can also provide access to features including Honor Any Door and remote assistance. An AI face swap detection feature is included as well, adding another layer of AI functionality to the handset.

Photography is handled by a 50 megapixel primary rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 5 megapixel front camera. The camera setup is fairly simple, suggesting that Honor is concentrating more heavily on battery life, durability and everyday performance.

Durability is another area where the Play 11 has received considerable attention. The smartphone carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for protection against dust and water exposure. Honor also says the device has received SGS Gold Label five star certification related to drop and compression resistance.

According to the company, the phone has been tested for protection against falls from heights of up to 2.5 metres in laboratory conditions. However, Honor also points out that the handset is not a professional waterproof device and that water resistance can decrease over time. Users should therefore not treat the protection ratings as a guarantee against every type of water damage.

Audio is covered by stereo speakers, with a high volume mode available for louder output. Honor claims the output can increase by up to 400 percent compared with the normal mode. The feature could be useful in situations where users need louder audio without connecting an external speaker.

Connectivity options include 5G, dual Nano SIM support, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and a USB Type C port. A side mounted fingerprint sensor handles biometric security.

Despite its large battery, the phone weighs 216.5 grams and measures 8.30mm in thickness. The specifications suggest that Honor has tried to balance the demands of a large battery with a relatively manageable body for an everyday smartphone.

The Honor Play 11 is therefore aimed at users who value endurance and durability but still want modern connectivity and software features. Its 8300mAh battery is likely to be the main attraction, while the 120Hz display and Snapdragon processor provide a more familiar smartphone experience.

For now, the device remains limited to the Chinese market. Whether Honor eventually brings the Play 11 to India or other international markets remains unknown. If it does arrive elsewhere, its pricing and battery focused design could determine how well it competes with other affordable 5G smartphones.
